    VOWS: A Poem By DoyinDeji

    VOWS
    Gave their hearts,
    enough mends,
    paychecks,
    paid back
    I got mine in shreds.

    Dad, morning,
    over here I'm yawning,
    tired of mourning,
    over what wasn't in offering...

    Mom, your first born,
    and dark tall son,
    seems his shadowed
    in a black sun,
burnt and grilled in emotional burn.

    I do, I do,
    that day, I won't do,
    for that day won't do,
to show their willingness to do.
