Don’t try to look up the manual.
She can tell you there is no step-by-step procedure.
No magic formula to bring her to her knees.
No concoction of words that can render this poet speechless.
    Trust me,
    She has heard it all.
She has seen enough to know the difference between love and lust.
She has learned what happens when she  chooses to ignore her gut,
So do not convince her she's broken just so you can pick up the pieces.
She picked them up a long time ago.
    And yes,
She's still glueing herself along the way.
But this mosaic she has become
is so much more beautiful than anything she ever was before.
    Before the shattering,
    Before the cracked glass,
    Before this newfound vitality.
    She will never expect flowers.
give her something that will not die.
Give her something that will only continue to grow,
    to change,
    to wilt at times,
    but rebirth in spring.
Love her the way Sam Smith sings.
Love her the way little kids run,
    so free,
    so unafraid of looking foolish.
Love her with your ears and realize she's going to talk far too much.
    No seriously,
She's going to talk a lot.
Drown her out when it gets to be too much,
but never let the water get too cold.
    Love her like the ocean,
not deeply or endless or something else vaguely romantic and far too cliche,
Love her like those weird creatures in the dark parts of the water,
the ones that are a little fucked up with crooked teeth,
    the loners.
Love her like the spaces in between words that were never said.
Love her in a way you never have to explain.
Love her like no one has ever caused you to spit out your own name in disgust,
    Like you were never worthy,
Like you were the one with a problem.
Love her like she knows you are both problems.
Love her like who the fuck gets to decide what’s a problem and what’s a solution anyway.
Love her like you told your kindergarden crush you were going to love them.
Love her like it’s really not that complicated in the end.
The way to love a girl like her, quite frankly,
does not even need to be written down.
Love her like you have always known how to.
